A NEW WAY HOME

Apartment Buildings Sales

It was a wonderful morning having breakfast with Gene Eidelman, founder and CEO of Azure Printed Homes, at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. Listening to Gene describe his vision for the future of housing left me inspired by the possibilities of a technology that challenges conventional thinking and reimagines how we build homes.

For generations, homebuilding has relied on familiar methods: lumber, framing, crews, and months of work. But what if robotics, advanced manufacturing, and recycled materials could change that process?

That is the promise of Azure Printed Homes.

Based in Gardena, California, Azure is pioneering a new approach to prefabricated housing using robotic 3D printing. Its technology produces structural shells from recycled plastic materials, with additional construction and finishing completed in a controlled factory environment.

One of the most exciting aspects is the company's effort to transform discarded plastic into useful building materials. Azure reports that a 120-square-foot structure can incorporate recycled material equivalent to approximately 100,000 plastic bottles. It is an innovative example of how yesterday's waste might contribute to tomorrow's housing solutions.

The technology also offers the potential to streamline construction. By moving much of the process into a factory, Azure aims to improve production consistency, reduce material waste, and minimize weather-related delays. Although printing the structural shell is only one stage of a finished home, this approach opens the door to a more efficient way of building.

As a real estate professional who has worked in residential, luxury, and commercial real estate since 1984, I immediately began thinking about the possibilities.

Could this technology offer new options for accessory dwelling units, multifamily properties, infill development, and hospitality projects? Could it help property owners and developers explore creative ways to use their land? Where zoning, permitting, site conditions, and economics align, the opportunities deserve serious consideration.

At Coldwell Banker Realty, the Ponce Real Estate Group is interested in connecting innovative housing solutions with homeowners, investors, property owners, and developers throughout the South Bay and greater Los Angeles area. By combining emerging technology with real estate experience and market knowledge, we can explore where these products may meet genuine needs.

No single technology will solve every housing challenge, and every project must stand on its own merits. But progress begins when someone dares to ask whether there is a better way.

That was what impressed me about my conversation with Gene. He is looking beyond the way homes have traditionally been built and exploring what manufacturing technology might make possible.

The future of housing will be shaped by people willing to rethink the present. Azure Printed Homes is contributing to that conversation by bringing robotics, recycled materials, and innovative construction methods together in a distinctly modern vision of homebuilding.

I left our breakfast feeling optimistic. Sometimes, a new future begins with a machine, a material, and an idea. And sometimes, it begins with a conversation over breakfast.
