Landlord Alert: Omega Fire Sprinkler Recall
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Central Sprinkler announced a recall of 8.4 million Omega brand fire sprinklers, manufactured since 1982. These sprinklers are alleged to be defective, with failure rates between 30-40%, potentially risking injury or death.
Reports show Omega sprinklers malfunctioned in 17 fires, causing injuries and over $4.3 million in property damage. These sprinklers are installed in various buildings, including homes, schools, and federal buildings.
